Professionalism and Safety Culture

The course is primarily aimed at maintenance personnel and hired maintenance personnel/contractors. Dialogue and reflection on lessons learned are a common thread throughout the course. The aim is to create awareness and the ability to go from talk to action. The commitment of the course participants is a prerequisite for the quality of the course.

The main content of the course

  • The terms of safety culture and professionalism, as well as their connection.
  • Order and tidiness. The steps include three workplaces/stations (cleanliness in systems, fire, and radiation protection) as well as documented observations in connection with moving between the stations.
  • Safety rounds. The work includes three workplaces/stations (self-check/inspection, work in commissioned rooms, and workplace accidents) as well as documented observations in connection with moving between the stations.
  • Communication exercises.
  • Directed reflection sessions with regard to your own operations linked to the previous day’s activity.
  • Error Prevention Methods (Human Performance)
  • Pre-job briefing (PJB)
  • Post-job debriefing (PJD)
  • Understanding of following a written example.
  • Understanding of a questioning attitude and the correct behaviour when deviations are detected.
  • Understanding of working with applicable/correct permits and limiting yourself to the correct component.
  • Exchange of experience between the various plants, as well as occupational categories and roles.

The course lasts for four days and prior knowledge is required for individual work in nuclear power plants.


Personnel from the power stations and contractors must apply via their immediate manager in accordance with the procedures for the power stations in question.
